Bio

Craig Adams is a husband, father, traveler, cook, and story collector, who always has a camera and book close at hand. He volunteers with a land trust in the San Francisco Bay Area leading hikes on weekends to share the beauty, in both land and stories, of the redwood forests and rugged coastlines.

Craig was born in Georgia, raised in central Illinois, and held business development and marketing roles in Asia and the San Francisco Bay Area. He finds comfort at home in Woodside, California with his wife and twin daughters, and their Labradoodle, hens, beehives, wildflowers, and fruit trees.

What Photography Means to Me

My interest in and passion for photography began with my father and his trusty Nikon. I learned to capture the moment, scene, and details, for those elements framed the stories of our vacations, family events, and daily lives.

In high school, I was firmly, and permanently, seized by the travel bug after spending the summer between my junior and senior years as a foreign exchange student in Ujung Pandang, Sulawesi, Indonesia. I tried my best to capture landscapes and people to retain my experiences on film.

I make photographs to capture the beauty and emotion around me. Those photos evoke words within me, and those words create the stories I want to remember and tell.

I am forever thankful for the photographers who have encouraged me to see and shoot in new ways. Those treasured souls include Dennis Gathman, an excellent wallaby spotter, Andrew Shumaker at Ghost Ranch, the road warriors Liza Politi, Ari Espay, and Ira Block, and, of course, Charles Adams and his trusty Nikon.
